Ive got this song on a copied cd with the lyrics
"the face is the same, the voice is the same but the person behind those eyes has changed"
THINK the song is called might as well be friends. Wondering if it was ever recorded and if so where I could find it!

Might Awell Be Friends, is available on some of the early James bootlegs. If you check through some of the setlists of pre '90 gigs I think, some of them will have this song.

The song is called "Might As Well Be Friends." They played it live at some gigs in the early 80's. Here are a few shows where it was played: London ICA 19.3.85; Birmingham Hippodrome 17.3.85; and Frankfurt Batschkapp 20.11.86. As far as I know, it was never recorded in the studio.
You used to be able to download the mp3 of it from Adam's James site, but unfortunately, that site seems to be gone now.

Geoff, thanx for the kind offer but Im not really a trader, I have a problem with losing the stuff that Ive already got lol!
Knew it was on the watty site, think the cd Ive got it on is a collection of mp3s from that site. Ill check out those shows that you said it was played in. Hopefully Ill manage to get a copy somewhere. Its a cracking tune. Cheers xxx

I have a spare Birmingham Hippodrome show here. If you want it you can have it. ;D There's no artwork though. Send me your address if you are interested. Don't post it on here though, for obvious reasons

Might As Well Be Friends was the name I gave it when I first got a bootleg with it on about fifteen years ago and it's sort of stuck. I have seen some photocopies of setlists from the time where it was called "Sister"
Songs tend to get names that way especially with James where they have a lot of songs played live that never made it to record. In fact many of them never got a proper name.
Another example is "Alive" off the Aberdeen 14.10.88 show which turns out to probably be the song Brother On A Wheel that Saul refers to in Folklore when he goes on about the demos he was played when he auditioned for the band.
