Taking my queue from johnnyyen and his posts about favourite singles and stuff was wondering what your favourite bootlegs were?
I know a lot of the bootlegs are fairly similar in terms of setlists but Ive always liked listening to the bands banter while onstage. Like when Tim ripped the piss out of John Lydon for getting bottles thrown at him on the Alton Towers bootleg.
So, favourite bootlegs people?

You pinched my next post!
Strangely I have managesd to be a James fan for quite a number of Years (Makes me feel old!) and I have remained completely oblivious to the Bootleg scene!
I have a staggering one Bootleg (Cheers Geoff!!) which is Birmingham 99. On listening to it the first time it took me straight back to the night. This is therefore my favourite bootleg.
I'll be seeking advice on building my collection soon!!!!

Whew!! So hard to choose. I'll have to give it some more thought, but right off the top of my head, some of the first favorites that come to mind are: (whole gigs) Paris La Locomotive 1991, Birmingham NEC 1999, and Heaton Park 1999. Some individual songs: "Basic Brian" (Mineapolis '94, far and away my favorite version), with San Diego Montezuma Hall '94 a close second; also, "Chain Mail" from that same show. "Born of Frustration" from Lollapalooza '97; "Johnny Yen" Wembley '99; "We're Going To Miss You" from Newport '98 (also Birmingham '99); "So Swell" from Shepherd's Bush 2000; "Stand" and "Scratchcard" from Liverpool 2000; and "Fine" from London XFM 2001.

Yeah, it's on the Liverpool Royal Court 16.6.89 bootleg. (There's also a great live version of "Hang On" on that bootleg; add those 2 songs to my favorite live songs list). I know there are other bootlegs in existence that have live versions of "Crescendo" on it, but that's the only one I have. Try checking this ftp site to see if they have any gigs with "Crescendo" on it available for download (sorry, I can't remember right now if the Liverpool show is on that site or not): jamestheband.no-ip.org:8080/james

I'm going to try and get an ftp client on my computer and see if I can upload some things to the ftp site. If I can figure out how to do it (I'm not exactly a technological whiz!), I'll upload that show to the ftp site. Give me a little time, if I'm not successful with that , drop me an email and I'll make you a copy of the show, if you like.
Another show that has both "Hang On" and "Crescendo" is Bradford Palace 1.11.89. Maybe you could request it from Dave in the bootleg requests section.

Hellllppp!!!...okay, I need help. With the ftp uploading, that is. I downloaded Leap FTP and attempted to upload something to the ftp site, but I was not successful. yknott, I'll email you privately rather than clutter up the messageboard with the technical details of my incompetency.
