Am i alone in loving this album.
All of the reviews of it are fairly negative, and I am sure I have read in places that even the band hate it!!
I think Its grand.
Anyone else got any opinions. Preferably about the band rather than about each other!!!!!

I love the first 7 tracks to Ya Ho. Then it kind of wares after that, until Stripmining. This is still one of my favourite James songs. I find it a bright and chirpy album, it chears me up ;D

I think it's a great album. For a long time it was my second favorite James album (behind Laid), but that may have changed with PTMY coming out. I thought I remember reading somewhere that Tim really liked Strip Mine, but I could be mistaken. I just love the drums on Fairground. Great stuff. Now I'm realizing that it's been quite a long time since I listened to it. I just might have to go do that.

Strip-Mine is a gorgeous record. I think "What For" would still be a very relevant single release.
I also love some of the musical landscapes they write, e.g. "Medieval" and "Riders". I agree with what Brain Eno said on the documentary about how most music is repetitive and cyclic. It's refreshing to listen to a band that allows themselves to let go and create progressive songs, simply because as humans our moods, emotions, and feelings are also progressive. Tim was right when he said freedom requires discipline.
