Does anyone have the clear lyrics of the song Discipline? All I get are snippets of phrases and I only have one crappy version of the song. Help ;D-ly appreciated!
Madchester
(by crappy I mean crappy recording, or I wouldn't be interested in the lyrics)

it changed rather a lot over the 3-4 years they were playing it live. I can have a go at some point, I always meant to do a lyrics section for unreleased songs as I did for the released ones, but was probably a bit too lazy to do it.
That said, anyone fancy doing it? Not you, mort, you go and fix your ftp server.

I'd have a go at it, except that I'd be so embarassed if I got the lyrics wrong: might end up starring on the wrong lyrics (I've forgotten what its called) section at the One Fan website (those are hilarious, by the way).
Having said that, I might give it a go anyway.
If anyone else is really bored and has nothing better to do, I'd like to have the complete lyrics to "Somebody Help Me." I always wonder if my interpretation of what I'm hearing is correct.

Not sure I have this song. If Dave wants to point me in the right direction to download an MP3 version I will attempt to extract the lyrics as best I can.

You can download "Somebody Help Me" from the Paris La Locomotive 15.3.91 show (great show!) at this ftp site: jamestheband.no-ip.org:8080/james/unofficial.htmlIt's also always really bugged me, not having the lyrics to "Seconds Away." Anybody else curious about that song? I have a pretty good idea about most of them, but some are a bit unclear and I'm not certain of my interpretation.

That said, anyone fancy doing it? Not you, mort, you go and fix your ftp server. Sounds like a challenge to me. I'm gonna have a go at a few, no guarantees of correctness and I'm sure many unreleased James songs aren't made entirely of real words anyway. That and songs like Discipline do change a lot so I'm working from some of my favourite versions of these tracks.

* Discipline (chords: G A)
On ice Something hits my left side I move Over to my right side High slide Like so
Oh make me sit beside the wood house Tie me down, undo my instincts, I'll fit any shape you choose
Gimme gimme discipline, can't fool you. If you won't give me discipline, I'll pull through.
Sanity's done won't let us do I need you to pull me through I need all the good foundations I need you to strap my boots on
Gimme gimme discipline, can't fool you. If you won't give me discipline, I'll pull through.
Give me a bassline that I can work from. Give me a family, that I can build upon. Give me a bassline that I can work from. I need foundations.
Sanity's done won't let us do I need you to pull me through I need all the good foundations I need you to strap my boots on
Gimme gimme discipline, can't fool you. If you won't give me discipline, I'll pull through.
Order, order, law and order. Give me order, order, law and order. Give me order, order, law and order. Give me order, order, order...

* Gregory's Town
Gregory's feeling queasy, He drunk too much cheap wine. While all of those around him, Are having a good time, Having such a good time. They are having such a good time.
He can play, Things to get him through the day. He can smile, No one can see what's inside. He may lose himself, In a living suicide. The train rides up his backbone, In Gregory's Town.
In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town.
He wants to talk of wisdom, Of madness and of God. The alcohol stirs up his soul, And wraps his vision in thought. In Gregory's Town.
He can play, Things to get him through the day. He can smile, No one can see what's inside. He may lose himself, In a living suicide. The train rides up his backbone, In Gregory's Town.
In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town.
He looks into his whisky, Just like a crystal ball. Sees a figure drowning, Feels himself free-fall, Lungs filled by waters, Burning through his eyes, Scrambling at the tumbler, Scrabbling at the side. His head's fallen, No more is his pride.
In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town. In Gregory's Town...

* Doubts (chords: G G A B A)
There's a noise, In my head. I wish they'd turn down the volume.
Some voice, That's not been fed. Shut away, shut away in a dark room.
Get back, get back, Get back in your corner now. Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, Shut up for sanity's sake. Get back, get back, get back in your corner now. No one will look at you looking,
Looking like that. Looking like that.
Need a leader, To pull them all together. Together, under one umbrella.
It's like trying to hold marbles on a tray, If I make a move they just roll away, roll away, roll away.
Roll away. Roll away. Roll away.
Get back, get back, Get back in your corner now. Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, Shut up for sanity's sake. Get back, get back, get back in your corner now. No one will look at you looking,
Looking like that. Looking like that.
Doubts. Doubts.

* Violent Rain
Violent rain, Violent rain, Violent rain.
Violent rain, Violent rain, Violent rain.
Look at the sun, Look at the sun, So bright it's blinding.
Even the clouds, Even the clouds, Must have their say.
Only the moon, Only the moon, Has understanding.
Of how you loved me then, But now you've gone away.
I am standing on top of these rocks, All the winds are raging. Pulling and twisting the trees, Up by their hair.
Lightening spinning the sky, And thunder is calling. Calling out your name, When you're not there.
I'm pouring, I'm filming, I'm draining, Away wash all my flesh right off my bones.
I'm draining, I'm pouring, I'm falling, Away, when all that's left is a beutiful shell.
I like that, I'm pouring, I'm bleeding, Away, wash all my clothes right off myself.
Even the oldest tree in the world, Is rolling and heaving. No bird can raise a song on this terrible day.
All the leaves are dead on the ground, And the wind is howling, Howling out for you now you're away.
I like that, I'm draining, Not drowning, All the leaves are flesh, Right mid across your sane.
I'm drowning, I'm pouring, I'm raining, When all my flesh and my bone's a beautiful shell.
I like that, It's hailing, It's calling, It's name is one, I don't know so well.
It's name is one, your name a know so well. Your name is one that I know so well.
Violent rain, violent rain, violent rain. Violent rain, violent rain, violent rain. Violent rain, violent rain, violent rain. Violent rain, violent rain, violent rain. Violent rain, violent rain. Violent rain.

* Somebody Help Me
How long can you hide when I look at you? How deep in disguise can you go through too? How wide are the flies, and what can you use? With their sweet love. In your home.
Let's pretend I'll die today, Live with the end in the sight today, Get your eyes on the prize and live that way, We long, to wrong, it's within.
This holy day, We'll want to change, Within the sounds, They'll come too loud.
Dance with a knock on par, Smash, making out its shards, Smash bells and your guitar.
The sea's a liar, We're drugged on fire. The sea's a liar, We're drugged on fire.
You've got to help me. Won't you help me? Somebody, somebody help me?
Let's pretend I'll die today, Live with the end in the sight today, Don't need to keep a face to what they say, Or see through skin. It's real hard.
I'll prepare to run some K, See, pull my weight, A foolish way. Keep the end, I'm turning in today, You're pushing clouds, it's within.
This holy day, We'll humbly change, Within your hour, A flame too far.
Dance with a knock on far, Smash, making out its shards, Smash these crystal shards.
The sea's a liar, We're going to expire. The sea's a liar, We're drugged on fire.
Help me. Somebody help me. Somebody help me. Help me, help me, help me. Somebody help me. Somebody help me. Somebody help me. Somebody help me.

I'll do more when I've got some of my old tracks back on my PC (thanks Andy for sending them, haven't got chance to extract the MP3s yet though). Some of that had to be done from memory but I think it's about right.
Feel free to use any of it on your site somewhere, Dave, if you want, and I'll do some more at some point.
I have a few chords for slightly obscure released songs as well if you like.
Pressure's On: G A D D Leaking: B B G A (main), A B (leg and an arm bridge)
Probably more if I can be bothered to look them up. And if someone could check my chords for accuracy then that'd be lovely.
