Currently for this period of your life or just in general, is there any James song that you would swear they wrote with you in mind?
Something about "I Know What I'm Here For" just makes me feel like someone else understands what I'm thinking or how I'm feeling.
Come to think, that could apply to very many of their songs. I'm sure a lot of you agree, but there's a tremendous amount of substance to their music. I listen to different bands for different reasons but there's something very real and genuine about a lot of James music in my unbudging opinion.

At the minute Tomorrow is helping me get through a really rough patch which is pretty good considering that Blue Pastures seemed spookily accurate to my feelings not that long ago!
I do agree that the songs get through to me in a way that no other band has managed to.

I hope things are better soon and I'm glad you have James in times like this.

When I'm feeling low, you can't beat Stripmining, Strangers, 1 of the 3, The Laid album, Really Hard, Crescendo, Pressure's On and so on. I love James ;D

Top Of The World
To this day, it is still my favourite song, (not just James song, but any song.) I adore the lyrics, adore the tune, and adore the atmosphere which it seems to be played in. No matter what mood I am in, I can always find something in that song. Whether I'm remembering past times, or thinking of now or the future, it always holds a strong place in my heart. I was really pleased that they rsurrected it in their live sets ;D

As my last post suggests... Ya Ho.
I normally skipped over this song on Stripmine for others like "What For" and "Stripmining", but recently I've fallen in love with this song.
The first lyrics of "I nearly died when you jumped in, but you had to drown before you could swim..."
Here's my take on the meaning: Don't just sit on the (safe) beach with your head in the sand. Jump in. Take a risk. Sometimes you will drown. But drowning is better than simply being safe and complacent.
If I'm inspired (persuing a female), I'll play it. If I fail in the pursuit, I play "Tomorrow" (of course) and then Yaho again and tell myself that you have to drown before you can swim.

I just want to add that I love reading these. There are too many choices though, aren't there? Naturally they can change from day to day depending on where life steers you, or where you choose to go when you have the reins; but James really write insightful music and have a song for just about anything that could happen. I think it's testiment to how many of us will listen to them forever, they'll always be relevant. "James Lasts" as Tim's t-shirt reads.

Yes Yes and Yes to everything thats been said. I really began to think I was on my own with this one as everybody around me likes James but doesn't seem to 'get' them in the same way I do. There songs have changed my moods, made me laugh, made me cry, made me believe there was nothing that was impossible for me - that you always have the strength within to deal with any of the crap that life throws at you. At when it does get too much theres always Blue Pastures! Tomorrow has to be the one that inspires me most - never give up that things will get better. There music is a stable thing in my unstable world. When I don't know where I'm going or what I'm doing and am completely messed up they're always there.
