just been watching my new "Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps" DVD (well worth it as you get the first two series - 12 episodes) and we've had Come Home and Destiny Calling in the first three episodes so far. Classic - well worth buying.

James songs on tv, reminds me. I was in the States last year and remember 'Strangers' was a track used on one of the American adverts. Can anyone from the States confirm this, or am I going mad?

I know that BOF was used in the Westin Hotel ads a few years back (actually a Super Bowl spot... which is a $2 million spot to buy) but haven't heard any others since...
...except the new Westin ads. For some reason, the music sounds vaguely familiar. I need to scan some of the Wahwah tracks to see if I can track it down. Any other Americans that have seen theses commercials? Am I crazy or might they be using an obscure James instrumental?

I remember hearing One Of The Three in a Tylenol ad a few years back also. It was quite bizarre.

I recall seeing that, too. I only saw it once. I was watching a video tape that someone had recorded from the tv, including the commercials that aired. At the time, I assumed that someone had edited the tape and just put the song over the ad as a little joke on me, so unlikely did it seem that "One of the Three" would be played on TV at all, much less in a nationally broadcast ad. Guess it was the real thing.
The only other time I can remember hearing a James song used in a TV program was the acoustic version of "Ring the Bells" at the beginning of an X-Files episode. Always was a classy show (before the last few seasons, that is: went downhill a bit). Never did see the Westin hotel ad that's been mentioned.

>> Never did see the Westin hotel ad that's been mentioned. It was pretty bizarre. I was watching the Superbowl with some friends (this was 1998, I think) and it came on with the intro of the song. It was one of those things where it takes a moment to realize what song is playing... because that is the last place I ever expected to hear a James song. But there it was. Pretty cool.

That ad appeared in 1998? I've never seen it, but I've heard of it. For some reason, I had the impression that they'd done that Westin ad much earlier, like around 1994.
I think the Tylenol ad was 1998 or 1999. It was quite bizarre! I don't remember the ad in detail, just the use of the song and the product. Not sure how "One of the Three" fits into an ad for an over the counter pain med (maybe the line "one in three must find some peace" but otherwise, lyrically, it doesn't seem appropriate. Though the music is beautiful. I wonder how they got the idea?

Only the music played during the tylenol ad. There weren't any lyrics in it. I remember the song fit the ad quite well. I'm not sure if that's sad or not. It was very mellow, and somehow tylenol solved all their problems

I don't know when it initially came out... but it had to be after 1995, because they decided to license it to pay off the tax debt they didn't know about prior to "Black Thursday". But like I was saying, it was bizarre. The commercial comes on and at first you don't know what song it is... because of course it CAN'T be a James song!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned She's a Star playing on the LloydsTSB adverts a couple of years ago. I think it was just the music playing while some young bird (sorry is that too non-PC? - girl then) walked around streets looking pleased with herself. It got aired a lot in these parts - the Midlands.

I personally dont object to being called a bird! However I think woman is more suitable then girl!
Never saw that advert, anyone know if it got aired in Scotland?

I can't stand being called a bird, but that's got more to do with me being a bloke than anything! She's a star however is always used as the backing track for the footie highlights on BBC1. I even use it to show people 'Who James are' when they say they've never heard of him. And that brings me on to the Who's he thing. I really hate that, If i could have a pound everytime i've said 'Well actually their a band....'
