Thanks for the recommendations, madchester. I'll check out the TV guide to see if our public tv station has any of them. Unfortunately, the only place to see BBC programs is on PBS, and they don't have many British sitcoms. On regular, cable TV, that is: I suppose if one had satellite TV, you could get the regular BBC programming.
A broadway musical of the Holy Grails? Hmm...not sure how good a production that would be, especially with several of the original cast members gone now. That's got to be one of my all time favorite movies-- I even used to have (it got stolen) an authentic script from the movie. An original one, not just a copy.
Going back to the orignal topic, another song that I think is great live is "Basic Brian." I love the studio version as well, but I also love hearing it played live. It's a bit different: slightly faster, sometimes longer, and different lyrics-- but still bee-you-tee-ful! The vocals are great, but the band sounds really sharp as well; just excellent all around.

I'm probably committing an act of sacrilege here, but I never liked Gold Mother until I heard some of the live versions made available by the good man Dave Brown on this website. And I agree with an earlier comment that Vervaceous is terrific live too. Which is surprising as wasn't the studio track something like 30-odd tracks of Adrian's cello? I think I read that in Folklore, but I may be wrong. You wouldn't expect it to come over live, but that's James for you. Inventive. Improvisational. Inspirational. Incredible.

Really?-- I've always felt it's the other way around with "Fine": there are a few decent live versions, but they just don't compare to the studio version, which I think is fantastic. The way the vocals are overlaid at the end-- stunning! I love that song, and I think it's some of Tim's best singing.

I think the song is perfectly mixed and the lyrics are utterly gorgeous. Very melancholy but optimistic.
