Who is the "friend who was about to jump of the roof?"
Probably someone who had his heart broken and was feeling miserable?
Could it be Saul? The performance on the DVD with booth and davies facing each other really makes me think it has something to do with Saul... What do you guys think?

To be honest I really dont want to know who that songs for because its such an important song to me. One thing though, I think the song really speaks to both people who have been depressed and cant think about tomorrow AND those whove helped people through depression. My friend Paul who helped me through a rough time heard that song and just went 'YES! Thats what I wanted you to know'

Tim dedicates it to Paul Gilbertson during their last Wembley gig so it could be for him?

My friend Paul who helped me through a rough time heard that song and just went 'YES! Thats what I wanted you to know' In my view, Tomorrow offers a view of... ""I love her, she didn't want me, she wouldn't know real love if it hit her on the face, she better be quick to get me or she'll lose me, ah what the heck, she can take as long as she wants to..." It's brilliant

Definitely one of my favorites. And the GAWIL version is the best live version, I think.
My take on it: "Now your grip's too strong... you can't catch love with a net or a gun" basically says YOU ARE TRYING TOO HARD. Chill out, relax, and love will find you.
Great song

btw- I think its Saul. Tim didn't get along with Paul too well... and the song was written during the Laid sessions. Paul wasn't really in contact with the band.

I remember when Radio 1 did a "James day" and they first played Tomorrow. Tim said, "we just made this one up on the way here" or words to that effect. He didn't seem as concerned about his friend back then (although I'm sure deep down he was!).

I was there when Tim announced this song was written for a friend who was about to jump off a roof. I had to really bite my tongue as I was so tempted to shout out "Did it work"!! Still it is definitely one of my favourite songs and played almost every night in my house.
