Can't really put them in a definitive order of personal preference as it changes depending on several factors, but here goes:
1. Laid 2. Strip-mine 3. Seven 4. Stutter 5. Millionaires 6. Whiplash 7. Pleased To Meet You 8. Wah Wah 9. Gold Mother

What did you think the problem was with Millionaires, if anything, oneofthethree?

What did you think the problem was with Millionaires, if anything, oneofthethree? IMO, it's great but all the 'poppy' songs are grouped together. Had they spread them out, it would be more accessable. Just my 3cents worth.

Still very unsure as I know some albums way better than others ... but gut instinct tells me ... and it's really hard ...

After much consideration...
1 Whiplash 2 Millionaires 3 Seven 4 Laid 5 Gold Mother 6 Pleased To Meet You 7 Stripmine 8 Wah Wah 9 Stutter
Notes:
Seven, Laid and Gold Mother could easily switch around at any time, because they're all so wildly different. Respectively big, small and political, they all appeal to me for different reasons.
I didn't rate Pleased To Meet You. With a bit more care it could have been their greatest ever, but there's just too many clunkers.

my top 3 are reasonably interchangeable, but currently...
Laid (Up till PS it is perfect, and after that it's damn fine) Whiplash (When She's a Star is the weakest song on an album you know you are onto something good) Millionaires (I first saw James at Guildford 99 as a fucked up 14 year old, and fell in love with their music. This album meant and means a lot to me) Goldmother Stutter Wah-Wah Seven (Sound is prob my fave james song, but as a whole it sounds like they're trying a bit too hard) Pleased To Meet You Stripmine

Hmm
1 Whiplash 2 Millionaires 3 Strip-Mine 4 Laid 5 Seven 6 Stutter 7 Pleased To Meet You 8 Wah Wah 9 Gold Mother
2 3 4 & 5 can jump about but 1 never changes. Says something new to me everytime I listen to it.

Why, never liked lists like these, only with james it is (relatively) easy:
1. Laid 2. Wah Wah 3. Whiplash 4. Pleased To Meet You 5. Stutter 6. Millionaires 7. Seven 8. Stripmine 9. Gold Mother
