aaaah memories. I've just been thinking about the first time I went to see James. It was in 1990, I bloody loved them but had never had the chance to go to a gig. But now that I had secured a full time job, I could actually afford to go to gigs! I was SOOOO excited!!! I couldn't get a ticket so I went down on the night, panicking that I would miss my favourite lads! There was a massive queue stretching along the road and I was convinced that I was going to miss out. I ended up haggling with a scumbag ticket tout, managing to get him down to £15 instead of the shocking £25 he was asking for! ( I think the face value was £8) The gig was absolutely OUTSTANDING- I was right at the front, jumping about like a mentalist; constantly amazed at the energy exuding from the band- it was the first time I'd sensed that overwhelming feeling of pure elation, emotion and joy at a gig- real "goosebump" moments just listening to Tim's incredible voice. I have had the same feelings at EVERY James gig since. After the gig, I hung about for what seemed like an age, I think there were just a couple of other people who waited. Finally the band came out (Tim was sucking on a lollipop!)and we stood chatting for a while-they were all so friendly and down to earth! They signed my gigantic James poster and my James sweatshirt sleeve before driving off in the tour bus, waving as they went. (Sadly both signed items are no more- my ex boyfriend destroyed them......Needless to say, his total lack of respect for sacred items has never been forgotten OR forgiven!)
Long Live James- they never really went away....
