Right at the end of this interview he says: "It’s so pathetic and superficial," he concludes. "In my mind, I’m leaving behind great music which I passionately believe in, but in terms of the public flavor, it’s all about ice cream—one day people want vanilla, and the next day they want chocolate. In the end, that’s about as important as it gets."
That might be true of the masses (in general terms) but I hope he can see just how important it can be to people, the fans. I still believe that music, some music, will always be the soundtrack to a persons life, even if they appear superficial, I'm yet to meet someone who can honestly say they are not moved by some kind of music, emotionally and possibly physically moved. There is plenty of music I don't really like or appreciate but I can accept that to some it can be as important as a James song can be to us.
Don't ever forget, Tim, your music touches people in ways you will never fully understand, treat it with the respect it has earned.
