Even my Evertonian friends are worried at the moment - I can't see them getting in the Top 6 if they continue through the season with the size of their squad. They need to invest heavily and even if it's more quantity than quality. If they don't I can well see them in mid-table at best - and no, that's not just my bias coming through, it's based on looking at the palaver in the club behind the scenes (hypocrite, moi? ;D ) and the state of the club in general, not to mention the fans themselves being more pessimistic than ever - my season-ticket holding Blue mate reckons they could flirt with relegation this year unless things improve dramatically before the end of August. While I'd obviously be more than pleased to see it, it does strike me as a bit sad - maybe it's the thing about being a small club in the city who play in blue while the big club in red wins things. Now who could I be referring to? Hmmmm..... ;D As for the Carling Cup, people usually put out their second string in that. For Everton that may mean playing a few kids from the local primary school! ;D Even from this end of the East Lanc's Everton do seem to be a little troubled behind the scenes. It's obvious that whilst they are solvent, they haven't got the money to really splash out to make a geniune effort like Spuds have to break the top 4. Then you can add the problems with the new ground, and it's a bit of a mess. However, they've got a solid squad and a manager who has proven himself time and time again. There was a point when Fergie wanted him as his number 2. However he does need a couple of signings, but he's probably looking around for the right people. Everton have a reasonable youth set up, nothing exceptional, though they do seem to produce on a regular basis. The comment over the Carling cup and kids out, is why I think Everton will do well this year. I think they'll use a mixture of first team and youth, and do well. A good cup run can do wonders not only to enhance confidence, but also a clubs reputation (though the Spuds look like loosing both strikers from last year (they simply aren't a big club though)). More players overseas will look favourably at Everton if they were to win the Carling Cup.

I doubt it, although when they move to Kirkby, at least they'll be able to say they never actually have to go into Liverpool.

You think correct Dave, he's part of our Brazilian quartet. Rafael, Fabio and Anderson complete that one. The other youngsters to look out for in our Carling Cup side will be Welbeck (England), Macheda (Italian), Petrucci (Italian). I doubt well see many others playing other than those already we've seen.

Remember how far you were ahead of celtic at one point last year? Ouch!. I'll never forget last season OOTT. Hey Ma was the soundtrack to 'the road to Manchester' it was(and always will be) unforgettable. It's almost ironic that it ends with "I wanna go home" but to lose the Uefa cup final just taught me that it's about enjoying the good times. That's what it's all about. Liverpool are above Man ure and mac should be enjoying it. We'll just have to "WAIT AND SEE " who is top next week. ;D And for the record, losing the league on the last day of the season hurts, it won't happen this season!!!. Having said that, I would love this seasons EPL to go down to the last day between Liverpool & Man Ure. That would be something special.

Having said that, I would love this seasons EPL to go down to the last day between Liverpool & Man Ure. That would be something special. I agree losing the league on the last day of the season is a tough one, I was Upton Park that day in 95... All I can say is that the West Ham fans were full of it in the ground, but out of the ground it was very quiet. However we won the league on the last day of the season in 99, and last year, so I know how that feels. I actually think a last day showdown between Liverpool and United would be a bit of an anticlimax to a point. I think both sets of fans would prefer to put as many points as possible between themselves. However, I'm sure the Dippers would take any sort of league win right now. I know we did in ending our 26 year wait in 93.

I actually think a last day showdown between Liverpool and United would be a bit of an anticlimax If Man U keep dropping points to silly teams like Everton then I don't think it will be a problem. And if Liverpool can beat Chelsea today then I really can't see who is going to stop them winning the EPL. I guess we will just have to "Wait And See" what happens in the next 90 minutes or so.

Wait and see for the rest of the season. Remember who was so far ahead last year in the two horse SPL and remember who won it.

Wait and see for the rest of the season. I guess we will have too, OOTT. As a wise man once said "You can't rush fate".

They beat a clearly out of sorts United at home, then go to a Chelsea and win and they'll win the League, Champions League, FA Cup, London Marathon, Grand National and claim to all come from Liverpool. Yet they can't beat Stoke City at home.
Yes, it was a good result for Liverpool today, but that puts you potentially 5 points ahead of United, but you'll slip up, like everyone will.
