As of today: 1 James (as always ) 2 Modest Mouse 3 Magazine 4 The Doors 5 Velvet Underground 6 ACDC 7 Manic Street Preachers 8 Simple Minds 9 Radiohead 10 Beastie Boys Depending on what Okkervil River's new album is like in a weeks time they may well creep back in very soon. But I'm fickle there are only two bands that will remain in that top 10 by rights everytime (also a few solo artists that have rather unfairly been ruled out - but that's the point of this thread me thinks). It also pains me that neither Big Country, Adam and the Ants, The Sound, The Charlatans nor Cud made it onto this list but it would only be me feeling that pain in the main ;D

In no particular order, apart from No.1 being No.1....
1. James 2. Carter USM 3. The Doors 4. REM 5. Iron Maiden 6. Gomez 7. Talking Heads 8. The Stone Roses 9. The Rolling Stones 10. INXS
If we're not limiting it to 10 I'd throw in Shed Seven, Guns N Roses (original), Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Cold War Kids. 2 bands I think will eventually make the top 10 but have only had 2 albums to date are Courteeners and The Airborne Toxic Event.

Wise words. Em, including solo artist(s), right now it is: 1. James (clinging on in there) 2. The Clash 3. Bonnie Prince Billy 4. Pearl Jam 5. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds/Grinderman (essentially the same ) 6. Guns n Roses (yes, the original line up) 7. British Sea Power 8. Nick Drake 9. Arcade Fire 10. Cold War Kids
