As many of you will have seen on the official board, John passed away last Sunday after many years of health problems. Despite everything that was going on, John remained one of the most intelligent, personable, articulate and downright pleasant members of the James community, always willing to share his enthusiasm for music, particularly late eighties / early nineties indie with a well stated preference for early James material.
He will be sadly missed by me, and I'm sure by many of you who have had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
My heart goes out to Deirdre and John's friends and family. The small consolation is that he is no longer suffering.

Well put Dave.
I was really sad to hear of John's passing, one of the wittiest, brightest all round gentlemen I never had the pleasure of meeting. Genuine passion for music and life in general.
Sleep tight John.

His wit, knowledge and enjoyable contributions will be sorely missed.
May I add my condolences sent to those who were close to him.

I was very sad to hear about John's death. I never met John but was of course very familiar with his postings and his distinctive username. I hope that he has finally found some peace and release from his ill health and I send my condolences and sympathy to those close to him. Sean.

A lovely man - the James community will be all the poorer for his loss.
