I would love to hear that too!
Back to the Manchester show of '01: Anyone have the boot and know what Tim said before/after the song about the irony of him actually hanging on until late december (of that tour)?

He doesn't say anything on the bootleg at all before or after the song apart from Thank You. Don't you have the live album btw?

If we're discussing the 7 December show, then there are many discrepencies between the DVD and the CD release, which suggests to me that parts were omitted from each. I woul personally be interested in hearing a live recording of the show, just to hear everything that was said.

The CD is pretty faithful to the whole thing as far as I'm aware. I don't really think I can post that show up on here given that it was officially released, I think that would be pushing the band and record company's tolerance of mp3s a bit too far

Not only do I have it, I was waiting in line at midnight the day it was released! Although, I'm sure I was the only person in line with a James album in hand... But yea, I was asking because of the changes from DVD to CD. The DVD, of course, chops out quite a bit compared to the CD (the worst of which being the intro to Sound). But then again, during the equipment trouble, the DVD had stuff on it that wasn't on the CD. For example, Tim talking about needing Saul's stuff working in order for the concert to go on and Saul saying "See ya later!" Hence why I was wondering if anything else was ommitted. Maybe I'm just delusional, but I could have sworn he made that ironic comment on the "late december" lyric either at MEN or Wembly. And I have the Wembly boot, so I'm using deduction to say it must have been at Manchester (I only saw the those two concerts.) hmmmmmmmmmmmm... -geo

Tim makes the comment about "hanging on through late December" at the start of IKWIHF at the Newcastle gig which has been bootlegged.
I hadn't noticed before just how much of the banter had been cut from the cd with the electrical problem. Odd editing

I guess I have gone crazy. It must have been on that bootleg, then. Thanks for finding that.
I'm guessing the GAWIL editing was based on what was visual (Saul waving goodbye) and also trying to sew-up gaps on the DVD left by cut songs.

I hadn't noticed before just how much of the banter had been cut from the cd with the electrical problem. Odd editing And with running times of 59.05 and 60.22 respectively, each disc had a good 12+ minute cushion for extra banter. I can understand them being cramped for space on the DVD, in which case they should have offered ALL the promo videos on a seperate disc, but why parts of the concert were omitted on the CD release is beyond me. The songs are great, but the experience of listening isn't quite the same. It is a shame that the opening of "Sound" was cut, because that's a very noticeable omission. It would have been nice to see Tim's quip about Larry's chair as well, part of which is in the documentary but it's just not the same.

The bootleg version of this gig not only contains more banter, some of the songs don't sound nearly as good. This shows just how much it has been edited and overdubbed.

How could you compare a bootleg to something recorded through the soundboard? Thank God I'm not a diehard Pearl Jam fans, because I'd hate to have all those concerts available and actually want them all, but at least they released high quality recordings of two consecutive tours so that people in attendance could forever preserve the memories without the limitations of audience recordings. Had James done the same thing, I'd undoubtedly get them all...eventually.

Which makes you question their take on certain member's performances. I know that they kept Andy's rap at the end of Ring the Bells pretty low in the mix. There must have been tons of arguments like that in the mixing of it, as usual. Hence why it took forever for the album/DVD to be released. On that note, it does sound fantastic. With the exception of the morons screaming "Top of the World, Tim!!!!" between every God forsaken song. And all the audio editing in the world can't get the rhythem-impared people in front to clap in time with the songs. -geo

Agreed, I wish people would grasp the fact that setlists are determined before they take the stage. That brings a question to mind however, did James ever cater their performances to crowd requests or insert songs into their sets on the fly? We all want to hear our favourite tracks but that was quite excessive in the Manchester gig.
