Aside from my dad's the Best Of I heard Born of Frustration on a gliding video my friend had been filming all week (I appear at the end on a bouncy castle - to "American Idiot!") and I knew every song he'd chosen but this. I thought it was increidible and emailed him asking what it was, and he responded saying it was the soundtrack to uni life in Loughborough back in 1992 (and promptly felt rather old!) Marvellous stuff. Little did he know he prompted a major obsession!! Shame he's not coming up to Manchester

for me it was the re-release of sit down in 91. Soon realised that there was much more to them than this song and set about buying everything I could get my hands on and attending gigs!

I heard Come Home on the radio in 1990 and became hooked. It's not my favourite track now, but I can still remember my 13 year old self sat on the bed going wow, who are these guys? I'm feeling really old though reading about all these people whose parents got them into James.....

I heard "ring the bells" in the X-Files season 3 episode D.P.O. when the guy dies buy lightening. Brilliant use of the song. Liked it, and already heard Sit Down obviously so gave them a listen.

When I had chicken pox in 1994, I was stuck at home. I first saw the laid video, and the song stuck.

I knew a lot of early stuf from my older cousins who used to tape peel sessions and songs of bands they liked from the radio so I had heard their stuff. My cousin got a copy of Chain Mail which was a revelation and I was a big fan of What For and Ya Ho. I then went to see them with a school friend as a sixteen year old (supported by Inspiral Carpets) in Newcastle and upon hearing HOW WAS IT FOR YOU in 1990 that I knew they were MY BAND. Met a lad a t college who had a copy of One Man Clapping and here I am now many years, many happy memories, many old friends lost and new friends made, many gigs shared and the soundtrack to my formative years being played out by James. (It helped that Madness had split up by this time also).
Now James have reformed all I need is for 'Nutty' bars to be brought back and the Red Hand Gang rerun on a Saturday morning and I could live happily ever after.
