Great Day. I remember standing in the Car Park, after the fireworks had gone off, thoroughly exhilerated, and realising that me and my mate were stranded in the middle of nowhere.
I'm not sure what upset my dad the most, making him drive from Birmingham to Alton Towers to fetch us, or the retelling of every highlight all the way back.
To this day I still haven't managed to infect him with the love of James!!!!!

Soaked to the skin, but loved every minute I remember queing to get in and these 4 lads singing as they got their tickets?, I remember John Lydon saying how tame england had become (or words to that effect anyway) and I thought "What a prat" no wonder he was bottled. Highlights for me were Hymn from a village and the opening of "Sound" - everybody at the front going mental..... awesome day and 2 weeks in bed full of flu afterwards did nothing to spoil my enjoyment Seems like only yesterday but it was 11 years ago, doesnt time fly...........

Fuck me, there are other James fans around Birmingham. Shame I didn't know that sooner, I live mostly around Canterbury these days. Still pop up occasionally though, in Walsall at the moment visiting parents.

TEXT was one of those dads. I wasn't really into James before Alton Towers. I was only just discovering that I liked them.
I was just the 'taxi-driver' ferrying my son and several of his mates up from St Albans (25 miles n. of London) - all of whom were mad on James. My son was 16 at the time, and I sat in the car a mile or so away on the brow of a hill and listened. It seemed almost as loud as if I was actually there ... and even from that distance it just blew me away.
(I admit I was also tuned into the live broadcast on radio 1).
There must've been 100s of dads like me up there and I've often wondered how many others got hooked the same way.

I was a fan since the re-release of Sit Down and went to see this fantastic gig with 3 friends.I bought my big red Alton Towers t-shirt and got a free James t-shirt with Cambridge on the back. I got completely drenched but was oblivious as much as every other fan within the theme park. Anyone know the track listing because there were a few i didn't recognise amongst the set. I showed my girlfriend the big red rainmac we were given too.I think she thought i looked like a cross between a Klu Klux clan member and Wizbit from bbc kids tv. I actually enjoyed what i heard of John Lydon.I'm a big fan of "Rise" and "Don't Ask Me" Poor old Galliano got rained off and couldn't play.I still have my mini programme with the goodie bag.(Red rain mac, programme and an assortment of James balloons i seem to remember.)

I did hear that one of the BBC sound Engineers has a very good quality copy of this, any copies going round?? come on, its my only memory of being 21 !!!
