Hi John from the Netherlands.. I left the UK and lived in Katwijk aan Zee where I made it my mission to tell everyone about James by the time I left I had quite a lot of converts and regularly got their tunes played in the Kroegen.. The Parliament usually...

Add me to the growing list of Daves. Having spent the first eighteen years of my life (born 1980) in the veritable musical hotbed that is north-west Norfolk , I was largely unaware of James until I bumped into She's A Star on one of the music channels I got addicted to (back when they actually played music...), and shortly after Sit Down, which I vaguely recalled liking seven years earlier, recaptured my ear. A quick romp through a mate's Best Of a few months later duly got me hooked. I managed to escape to Manchester for university in 1998, got my first ever CD player for Christmas that year, and there was no looking back; Millionaires was, astonishingly, the first album I ever bought on the day it was released. I managed to get to the Manchester concerts in '99 and '01, which were both beyond awesome. And then, having decided Manchester was better than Hunstanton (it is), I've stuck around here ever since, going from Victoria Park to Longsight to Fallowfield to Heaton Chapel and finally up to SportCity, living across the road from the Man City stadium - which is a pain, as I'm a born and raised Red. Finally; as a tossed off message to a couple of mates after the split, I suggested "I bet they'll be back in about 2007 or so..."

My Dad's just outside Wisbech now (Walpole Highway, specifically). He makes a point of avoiding the place at all costs. And Hunstanton is undoubtedly a lovely place to visit, once, maybe.

You must have found the only time of the summer that the Hunstanton Rec isn't covered in caravans.

It was the summer of 1990, probably the day before Gold Mother came out
