Life has moved on a lot since since James were last around.
Got married 2003 First Child Oct 2004 (her favourite James songs are Give it away which she sings along to and Island Swing to which she runs around the room oin rapture) Next one due Late March (hence was not given a pass-out to see James in April - hoping for more dates or headline and will be desperate to sneak out to a secret gig if Warrington Parr Hall or North Wales are chosen!!!) Had 3 different jobs (all in manufacturing and all less than fulfilling)
Used to follow James round the country when I was a student (1989-1995) and saw them several times in Manchester since.
I'm sure this is just an everyday tale in the life of many James fans
Anyone done anything really outlandish? Or anyone like me saw their whole priorities change?
I say cherish it (trying not to let the green eyed monster of envy escape) to anyone who is going to see them this time and I will be amongst you all again on the next tour!!!

Hmmm its changed for me in that my 3rd daughter arrived in december 2003 and my mum died the day after I was told in 2006 that i was a diabetic and had been all my life but after losing 20kgs i started playing rugby again And with James in the picture everything seems ok in the garden

Got angaged to Amanda the day before JAMES' last concert, DEc 2001. Twin girls born a year later on 10th Dec 2002.
This is the hard bit, one of my girls, Tegan, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (a rare childhood cancer) at the age of 7 months. I remember the day very well, as we sat in A&E Alder Hey all day, watched everyone else whine about how little they had waited. This very good German doctor had a 1% doubt about my daughter's chest & ordered an x-ray!! The rest is history & Tegan is 3 yrs in remission!!
Both Tegan & Mia love The Who, James, Muse, Kaiser Chiefs etc.
As for me and Amanda, we've been close to splitting up many times, but have grown to love each other even more than we have done before!
JAMES brought us together & is going from strength to strength!

Hmmm 2002? I was still at college and with a chap who was the love of my life for yonks but dreams don't always make sense when you realise them, alas. 2002 wasn't that memorable actually, rather nondescript. No good stuff, no bad stuff, rather mediochre.

When I started this topic I was well aware that everthing could not be sunshine and roses (cause life's not like that), I was hoping to hear exactly how it is. I find it quite humbling that you have chosen to share this with relative strangers. It kind of puts the whole love of a band thing here into perspective and that I've been living in a relative comfort zone. I discussed the following with a friend a while ago who agreed: When my daughter was born as I saw her for a split second I was struck with a terror the likes of which I've never felt (I'm talking a millisecond and it disappeared when she was placed in my arms) which felt like 'How do I do this? How do i pretect this thing from all the world has to throw at her? Thought I was strong but I'm not strong enough for this?' I'm guessing you had to live with that feeling for quite some time and boy must that take some doing!!! All the best to your family here's hoping everything works out alright. On a lighter note: you spoke to me on the other site as i fed the trolls under the name of Beast Inside - indeed I am an inspirals fan as well. And was quite amused by the Gareth Gates Stutter comment as has already been acknowledged here on this sight already.

Dont think I have much in common with that 18 year old other than James but I would have a respect for his outlook on life and sheer joy in the simple things, such as following a band from Manchester round the country with friends and strangers. Most of me wants to be back there, I think?

The bottom line is that you just have to get on!!
I've been a soldier (86-99), student, driving instructor (gave it up because of my daughter), stay-at-home dad, shelf stacker @ Tesco ( who I am currently suing the ass off), and am a computer technician (currently contracted with NHS). Have an interview for a new job this thursday!!
We all are special in what we do, we just keep a lot of it to ourselves!!
I find that music is the new politics, or has been so for many years!! Democracy & freedom of speech are two rights we do have!

What's got me thinking the most is how much things have changed since I first saw James play live back in '91. Back then I was 14 years old and just embarking on my hell-raising years Since then I've stopped the hell-raising bit, met my husband, got married, finished my degree, travelled the world, moved from one end of the country to the other more than once, had two kids....... and probably a good deal more besides the obvious milestones I don't know a single person now that I knew in '91, I don't listen to the same music (with one exception!) or read the same books, I don't go to the same places or wear the same clothes - basically everything's changed except James, its the one thing I can always come back to and it touches me deeper every time. When I'm writing (my unofficial occupation when the kids aren't about!) I just need to hear a snippet of Tim's lyrics to lift me out of an uninspired moment. They just always click with me I guess in a way that no other band does.

What I find amazing is that we all have a story of some sorts. It's fascinating to read other peoples. We have all had battles and victories of some kind, been broken and had to put ourselves back together - its the human condition I suppose. James is the common denominator for us all here and what moves us to share our stories which in turn helps others. The beauty and honesty of James lyrics is what touches us so deeply and unites. I'm guessing for all of us its also been whats helped us through life - good times and bad.

I last seen james in 2001 (titp & secc). (seen Tim do BONE 3 times but that's another story)
Back then my kids SON(15) & DAUGHTER(9) were (10) & (4). Nowadays they both have their own laptops/websites, dvd players, televisions, mp3 players, 1 has a playstation & a DS and 1 has a nintendo wii & a gameboy and a lot more besides. Since then they have travelled to Portugal, Spain and America not to forget a few breaks to center parcs. They have both grown to make me proud and obviously I love them dearly and look forward to watching them grow over the next few years. Only today my DAUGHTER said to me something about "2008.... kicking it in".... and I'm stuck in 1991! :-( AAaaarrrrggghh.
Long live JAMES

If the kid was a boy, were you gonna called it James ? An interesting idea but I we decided on names prior to the whole James reform thing. Also I dont think naming your children after bands is the right way to go and i'm sure my daughter Intastella Oasis Bis Buffalo Springfield Spice Girls Say Yeah agrees with me. Having said that there will always be a middle name option but I think my wife is going to throw me out when I approach a tout and buy an overpriced ticket for the tour (because I can't miss it can I) without being reminded of it every minute she spends with our child!
