Better to disappoint a few for this gig than the many if the whole tour was cancelled. Just got my fingers crossed for carlisle. Rather glad I didnt do the daft thing and book a flight down!

It was only pulled late last night so ticketweb won't know yet, I guess. Don't start any conspiracy theories, Peter :-)

tim phoned me. its about the only way of getting the news out before tomorrow morning given there's noone really running the official site at present. Despite having inadvertently caused the gig to be cancelled due to the shockwaves from my tantrum yesterday, I'm really gutted for those of you who'd got tickets. If I'd faffed around getting babysitters and train tickets sorted I would have been hopping mad. Obviously fingers crossed Tim will be OK by next week. But, really, all this about the website not having anybody running it still, that's why I had my rant about the official site being a bit poor way back. As of now there's still no official notice about the cancellation, no email, nothing. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I would imagine that some people will still turn up tonight in the hope that it's still on and be mighty pissed off. BTW, I want Tim to phone me too.

I only just saw this thread, and was reading through it, and thought of a great joke, but it's too late now and the moment has gone. For posterity, I shall post it here. It was in reply to this post by johnnyyen/oneofthethree: tim phoned me. its about the only way of getting the news out before tomorrow morning given there's noone really running the official site at present. what about that 9/11 person? Ok? Ready? Here's what I was going to say: ----------------------------- tim phoned me. its about the only way of getting the news out before tomorrow morning given there's noone really running the official site at present. what about that 9/11 person? He said running, not ruining! ----------------------------- It wasn't worth it.

Hi all,
Whatever happened to altruism!! My concern here is Tim's health, under no circumstances would I want to watch him aggravate it and cause potential long term problems. Irrespective of the possible implications for the upcoming tour. A healthy Tim is one performig to his best.
I was really concerned last time he had that bloody neck brace on. There is nothing worth damaging your health for and I include in that the potential for your fans to choose to be pissed of at the cancelled event.
Instead lets all offer Tim our heartfelt best wishes for a full and speedy recovery for his sake not ours.
by the way mrs bon is a fully qualified and practising aromatherapist and will be at most of the gigs so if Tim wants a proper massage treatment just let me know!!
bon
PS: Okay guys but I am sympathetic to the fact that money has been spent and hope you manage to get things sorted on that front.
My biggest sympathy goes to peterrugby 'cause after the problems and angst of the last adventure he really needed this gig to restore his faith in the universe!!!!

Sorry, Deano, let him play for you and the 200 or so ticketholders and aggravate it so much that they have the cancel the whole tour. Good plan. It's a warm-up gig for them to practice for the tour. I'm sure you'd have been equally narked if he'd played the gig, made it worse and the whole tour got canned. That would have been very smart. A fair point, and yes, I would have been. But while I'm no doctor, I'm pretty sure the act of singing doesn't aggravate a shoulder injury. I struggle to believe that, were the proper precautions taken, the gig couldn't have gone ahead with no additional risk to Tim's health. But instead they took the path of least resistance. They've been rehearsing for the past few months, presumably Tim has been participating in the rehearsals. If he can sing in a rehearsal studio, surely he can sing on stage?

I'm no expert ... but I do know doctors get pissed off if you ignore their advice and you get worse as a result!

Tim could sit quiet and sing to his full potential without aggrivating his shoulder. Am I wrong to suspect another motive here? Fair enough if the gig hadn't been announced yet, but so close to the night, it seems a little pathetic. cB

You are wrong. End of. I'll pass on your thoughts. I'm sure it'll encourage them to play small warm up shows announced to fans only rather than just inviting record company and friends if this is the response to a genuine injury that got worse over the weekend.

Not quite on the same scale, but ... I got put in hospital after being beaten up ... rushed to return to flying training way too soon ... was given the all clear by a doctor but told to take it steady ... confusion over check rides meant I was back in the hot seat far too soon and subsequently got chopped. If I'd have slowed down and resisted the pressure to return to the squadron, I could be at Linton right now ...
Suffice to say - Tim has had to resist the pressure by not playing, and put himself first. Not selfish at all, in fact, bloody sensible. I'd have been gutted if I was going tonight, but hey, sh*t happens. I don't want an injured Tim; last time I checked we don't have any spares.

i think tim was right, you cant please everyone. i have suffered from back problems in the past and if your back, neck or arm etc are hurting its a real struggle to do anything let a lone perform in front of a few hundred people.
plus we know the band are perfectionists and they would feel they had let you down if tim wasnt on form im sure there would be some here who would say he's past it etc.
Regarding the sitting down thing, you dont know the true nature of his problem, sometimes sitting down is the worse thing you can do.
the main thing is the band are back everything is smelling like mmmmmmmmmm "daisies" again!!
