Given the success of last seasons LFC thread I thought its about time to get the ball rolling again... So lets start with a giggle at the man u fans claiming they are glad to see Ronaldo go - especially seeing as none of the players you are in for have 30+ goals a season in them? ;D

Not wanting to start a Man Utd love in but did they not manage to win the league, and relatively comfortably, last season without anyone scoring more than 30 goals? Unless Ancelotti makes some pretty spectacular signings (Pirlo etc) I can't see past United again.
What I do predict is for Everton to finish in 5th place but all the credit and slavering over by the press to go to the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham who will finish below them despite speding substantially more money!!

Why would we need a 30 goal striker? I mean Ronaldo didn't hit 30 goals last year did he?
What we may need, is some of our midfielders to step up to the mark, as we have done in the past. Of course the Ginger Prince, won't contribute goals like he used to nor Giggs, but the likes of Carrick, Fletcher and even Anderson (well ok perhaps not), need to add more goals to this years totals.
This season is going to be a transition season for United, and whilst 4 in a row is the target as it's another record the club wants, this year will see the last of Giggs, Neville, Scholes and Van Der Saar. The replacements will get more and more games, and it's how they stand up that matters.
In terms of Ronaldo, we knew at some point he was going, we knew where he'd be going, but not even we could expect to get £80m on him. He is the best player in the world right now (consistently over the past 3 years unlike Kaka and Messi). We got the top market value out of him and sent him to a club where I suspect he won't win much except a healthier bank balance. It's going to be impossible to replace him, so as normal I suspect Sir Alex will bring in different type of players and alter the way we play. He's done it before and he'll do it again this season.
As for our targets, I don't know whom I'd go for, as I rate Huntlelaar better than Benzema, but I'm not sure if he'd make it at United if he's failed at Real. We do have some promising forwards in our squad, and Sir Alex has said he expects Welbeck to be challenging for the WC squad, so if that's a sign of his inclusion as the 4th forward then I'm happy.
At the start of the previous thread I mentioned a few youngsters of whom most mad a name for themselves last year, so I'll perhaps give you a few names for this year from our produciton line whom might get a few games in the Carling Cup.
Davide Petrucci - was injured for some time this season, but he's another Italian, who's an goal scoring midfielder.
Craig Cathcart - another N.Irish central defender whom I rate better than Johnny Evans.
A long shot for some first team action will be Revel Morrison, though if he comes close to some of the reviews we've been hearing from him, we've got a hell of a player on our hands here.

yeah pardon me.. he only got 26 in all competitions which isn't anywhere near 30 getting your excuses in early Tribec? (transitional season) and LP - you don't think Man Citys millions will get them into the top 7?

I shall formally offer my good luck wishes to Sir Roberto Martinez in his PL debut. They shot deserters in the war

Of course it will be there year, it's 2010 isn't there something special for them to win it for. All I hope is that we knock them off the perch this year for good. We will certainly need a striker now, I guess that Fergie has known for a while that he'd need at least one if not two this summer, as Ronaldo had signed a pre-contract agreement with Madrid, and all the chaos with regards Tevez had to have him looking around. I don't think our midfield is too much of a problem area, perhaps signing both Young and Valencia might be an idea. Though I doubt we'll get both. I actually think that Fergie might have looked at the forward situation anyway this summer. We really didn't fire at all last year with what was essentially a dream quartet. It was our defence that won us the league last year. However, I don't want us to load our strike force around a goal machine like we did with RVN, the reliance on one forward is dangerous, we just need to look at Liverpool last year to show us that problem.

I know this isn't the correct thread anymore, but there are some blessings that Newcastle got relegated this past season. Forget the Shearer situation, forget the fat Geordies crying on the television near enough every week. At least we won't be put through this shirt in the Premier League next season... What were they thinking!!!

Talking of Ringo, what about his partner in crime Macca, didn't he charge like £1m for his Anfield gig and then promptly played a free gig in Israel? What's the attitude towards Macca in the city?
