Like any reasonable person I look at the overall statistics for a club and Liverpool have won more Titles, More European Cups and more league cups than Man Utd.
I'd also add that Man Utd have had period of winning next to nothing namely 1977-1993, it happens to all teams, I'm sure if and when Liverpool win several titles in the future you will say look at what Man Utd won in the 90s.
Face it you were awful in the Semi-Final and deserved to go out - you have been fairly lucky in other competitions what with Ronaldo's diving and it's impossible to win a penalty at Old Trafford, thinking in terms of the Middlesborough game. Let's face it Man Utd would love our history - also I'd add your spending on players recently isn't far behind Chelsea so there can't be any complains there i.e
Rooney - 27m Ferdinand - 30m Van Nistelrooy - 19m Carrick - 18m Vidic - 7m Ronaldo 12m -------------------- 103m just on 6 players!
LIVERPOOL STATS TITLES:18 EUROPEAN CUPS: 5 UEFA CUPS: 3 FA CUPS:7 LEAGUE CUPS 7 SUPER CUPS: 3
MAJOR HONOURS: 43 (not counting Charity/Community shield)
In this decade we have won European CUP x1, FA CUP x2, UEFA Cup x1, LEAGUE CUP x2, Super Cup x2
It's not like we haven't won anything for a while, for example what have Man Utd won recently?
ERM 2005/2006 season: League Cup (which you celebrated like you'd won champs league) - laughable!

ERM 2005/2006 season: League Cup (which you celebrated like you'd won champs league) - laughable! We didn't celebrate it any more than you did beating West Ham on penalties to win the FA Cup last year. You haven't addressed any of my earlier points so I don't see why I should address yours. But here's a simple question, considering you're the protagonist here : What's your point? Are you really trying to engage in a "my club's better/bigger than your club" debate?? Because I was talking about values and principles of a team (i.e. the fact you only seem to win things on penalties and that you only seem to turn up for 15-16 games per season). Your debate is pointless and childish. You're a far more successful team than Derby County but I don't see you coming out and slating their team and calling them scum. Stop being so juvenile and act like a real football fan (respect other teams and give credit where credit is due). I applaud Liverpool for getting to another final and I respect their history and traditions. I support Manchester United for similar reasons but the addition of family ties therein. I don't wish to be branded "red scum" because we lost a football match. You need to grow up, my friend. cB

Great post my Tom, love how say United had a lean period from 1977, when in fact it was from 1968 onwards till 1993 to be honest. During that period, Liverpool dominated to be honest, well certainly from the mid 70's onto the 90's. Most United fans would love you to spin the fact whilst you claim our lean years started in 77, you fail to note our relegation in 74. As for United loving to have the history of Liverpool, that's almost the funniest thing I've ever heard in my life. Manchester United have one of the greatest history's in football. In fact it's possible to claim that had it not been for a plane crash in 1958, Liverpool's honours count would be far less than it is today. However that's another debate. Liverpool's history really starts with the appointment of Shank's and from the early 70's. Talking of penalties, can you tell me how many penalties Liverpool get at the Kop? Also, how many penalties are given against Liverpool (a) at the Kop, (b) at Anfield? I'm sure as hell it's comparable to United.

I'm sure as hell it's comparable to United. To add to that, Liverpool's last penalty at Old Trafford - 2004. United's last penalty at Anfield - 1999. Any great attacking team are going to get a lot of penalties because of the amount they get the ball into the box, to feet, with players good enough to fool defenders into making a desperate challenge. The point shouldn't even be about the actual number given overall, it should be about the amount given or not given that were unjust. Liverpool get many dodgy penalties. Istanbul in 2005, during some game or other, springs to mind. Gerrard falls over in the box more than Ronaldo. Fact. cB

That's not really fact. That's just some anti scouse people (which I'm all for), taking the piss. Which is fine. Bet if you wanted you could dig up some classic Ronaldo cheats

Bet if you wanted you could dig up some classic Ronaldo cheats No, fair point but Gerrard is the one who comes out saying stuff like "we have to put an end to diving" and then does it in the box with unfailing regularity. There's so many other instances that aren't available online where he's done it. On the other hand there have been quite a few times this season when Ronaldo has been branded a "cheat" by reputation. A reputation that was earned aged between 19-21. Gerrard is, what? 26-27 now? He should know better. Ronaldo has cut out a lot of the diving that used to be a staple of the Portuguese game. It's a disease over there. They're taught it. Many times this season Ronaldo has won legitimate penalties, which, had they been won by any other player, wouldn't have been scrutinised even half as much. I'm thinking the two Middlesbrough ones for example. Both penalties ; yet branded a cheat both times. Anyway, that's not the point of the thread and it shouldn't be either. cB

Mate the premiership is full of diving cheats. That's why I'm rapidly losing interest. Drogba is horrendous. How can a guy that big fall so often clutching his head. I just laugh at Ronaldo. he always looks like he's gonna cry when he doesn't get a free kick. No excuses for any of it

To me Chris you're full of excuses, we have players out as well that is why you have something called a SQUAD.
In terms of 1977-1993 - I was referring to the 26 year gap between titles. We haven't won the title for 18 years, I don't know what Man U fans like 1 of the 3 are going on about, every team has lean spells - this is ours. I'd like to add that Man Utd have spent a lot more money on players than Liverpool certainly since 1996, these days it's crucial if you're going to get anywhere sadly.
Man Utd record signing 30m Liverpool record signing - 14m
Lol Ronaldo winning legitimate penalties - even Mourniho is right about that, plus Chelsea had to play 14 times after Man Utd - plus Man Utd had an easy start to the season allowing momentum to be built up.

We had our hardest five games in the first few months, Man Utd's has been nicely spread out, as I say allowing momentum to be built. We had Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, Everton and Bolton Away in the first couple of months, we should have done better I agree, but Man utd played weaker teams and built a momentum up.
